Angel Spring — The Gateway of Divine Voice (CV23)

Among the 12 extraordinary meridians, there is one point whose name alone opens a portal to the unseen: Conception Vessel 23 — “Angel Spring.”

This point sits in the soft hollow above the throat, where breath and word are born. In classical texts it is called Lian Quan (Ren-23), translated as “Corner Spring” or “Purity Spring,” but in the poetic lineage of my own practice, I have come to know it as Angel Spring.

It is here, at the gateway of the throat, that the waters of the body meet the heavens of the voice. In Taoist, shamanic, and cosmic traditions, this space was seen as more than anatomy; it is a meeting point where heaven and earth exchange breath.

The Shamanic and Cultural Threads

In many cultures, the voice is considered a bridge to spirit. Shamans across Asia and the Americas used chant, song, and vibration to call down the ancestors, the angels, the unseen. In Taoist alchemy, this point relates to Tian (Heaven) descending and Shui (Water) rising — the celestial nectar that nourishes the soul.

CV23 rests in the throat chakra region (Vishuddha), known in yogic texts as the center of truth and expression. It is no accident that across traditions the throat is a sacred portal: the songs of birds, the hymns of angels, the mantras of sages — all flow from this spring.

Angel Spring in the Clinic

When I work with this point, I feel its vibration instantly. It’s as though a quiet bell rings inside the room.
Clients who feel silenced, disconnected from their divine voice, or whose experiences have caused them to doubt their worth often resonate deeply with this point.

In these moments, CV23 is like a small temple: a place where the divine voice can be reawakened, where self-expression can flow not from ego but from the infinite. It’s not only about “finding your voice” but about remembering that your voice was always a channel of the heavens.

Angel Spring in My Own Practice

Personally, this point has become a reminder — a soft, luminous nudge — that I, too, am a conduit.
When I touch CV23, I think of it as a whisper from Heaven:

“Speak, but speak as the Divine would through you.
Let your words be clear water from a sacred spring.”

Whenever I feel unworthy, muted, or swept up in a world that denies our inherent divinity, I return here. My fingers rest at Angel Spring, and I breathe. The voice softens, the heart opens, and the cosmic conversation begins again.

The Universal Invitation

All acupuncture points hold the potential for transformation, but CV23 — Angel Spring — is uniquely attuned to the divine voice. It calls us back when we have denied our divinity or when the world has tried to silence it. It reminds us that even in the most human of moments, the heavenly current is still flowing, ready to speak through us.

May this point be a gentle reminder:
Your voice is sacred.
Your expression is a spring.
The Divine is still whispering.

A Practice for You

Place a finger gently in the hollow above your throat.
Breathe in slowly.
Imagine a cool spring rising from within you and a soft light descending from the cosmos.
With each breath, allow the two to meet.
Then speak — even a whisper — as though angels were listening.

This is the medicine of Angel Spring.
